Peer Review Process

The Journal of Entrepreneurial Studies is a double-blind peer reviewed journal. The peer-review process is as follows:

  1. The corresponding author of the manuscript submit the manuscript through the online submission site of the Journal of Entrepreneurial Studies.
  2. The editor in-charge conducts a desk review to assess the relevance of the manuscript to the journal's focus and scope, and potential problems of academic misconduct (e.g., improprieties of authorship, data manipulation, and plagiarism). Manuscripts that are not relevant to the focus and scope of the journal and/or suspected of academic misconduct will be rejected for publication.
  3. When the submitted manuscripts are suitable with the focus and scope of the Journal of Entrepreneurial Studies, the editorial board assigns two reviewers that are academic experts in the field of entrepreneurship to evaluate and give recommendations to improve the quality of the manuscript. The manuscript will then be sent to the two reviewers. The review process is expected to take between 2 weeks for each reviewer.
  4. At the end of the first-round review process, the reviewers give recommendations to the journal editor, which may consist of critiques or constructive comments. The editorial board then evaluates the manuscript quality and its suitability for publication. Manuscripts that are considered suitable for publication by the editorial board but are recommended to be revised by the reviewers will be sent back to the authors for revision, meanwhile manuscripts that are considered poor in quality will be rejected.
  5. The manuscript revision deadline is determined by the degree of revision required for the manuscript to be considered publishable. The revised manuscript that is accepted with minor revision must be submitted in the online submission system within one (1) week, while the revised manuscript that is accepted with major revision must be submitted within two (2) weeks. The revised manuscript will be sent back to the reviewers for further reviews.
  6. If the reviewers and the editorial board deemed the manuscript to be ready for publication with no need for further revision, the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) will be sent to the author.
  7. The manuscript will then enter the article production process, and will be published in accordance to the publication schedule. The Journal of Entrepreneurial Studies publishes bi-annually every May and November each year.
