Focus and Scope

Journal of Widya Medika Junior is our faculty's very first project in publishing the students' research, making them available for both students and faculty members to read. It is an endeavour to nurture our students' passion in doing scientific research through which process they will be encouraged to develop critical thinking, academic writing, an in-depth analysis of a particular topic using scientific method, and eventually produce knowledge. in the field of Geriatric Medicine (infection, injuries, psycological problems, degenerative disorders, metabolic disease, and malignancy) and Family Medicine (cardiovascular disease, occupational and home safety, neurological disease, reproduction, breast feeding, infection, metabolic disease, malignancy, nutrition)  according to our FoMWMCUS Indonesia Vision, Mission and research tree.

Peer Review Process

Publication Process Scheme

Submission (1)
This should include the title, authors' names and affiliations, and a complete address for the corresponding author including telephone and e-mail address. The author needs to remove names and affiliations under the title within the manuscript, there are other steps that need to be taken to ensure the manuscript is correctly prepared for double-blind peer review. Remove references to funding sources Remove any identifying information, including author names, from file names, and ensure document properties are also anonymized.

Initial Assessment (2)
After submitted, the manuscript will undergo an initial assessment to check not only the manuscript topic is related to the journal aims and scope, but also the grammar quality. These are 2 iniatial assessment points :

(2a) Ethics Protocol & Ethics Committee Approval
All works involving human or animal subject must submit an ethics protocol that are subject to review and approval by the Health Research Ethics Committee. The protocol format follows the 7 Ethical Standards for Research Ethics based on the International Guidelines for Health-related Research consisting of Social/Clinical value, Inducement/exploitation, Scientific value, Confidentiality and privacy, Equal distribution burdens and benefits, Informed consent, Risk and benefit ratio.

For Manuscript from other students outside FoMWMCUS, it should attach ethical clearance letter from Ethical Committee of Hospital or Faculty of Medicine themselves

(2b) Manuscript originality check
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works with a manuscript plagiarism test less than (20%) (Turnitin and others method and test), and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. All of the submitted works will be checked using antiplagiarism software: Turnitin. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Information obtained privately, as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source.

(Notes: The Initial assessment process will be done within 1 week, if accepted it will continue to the Editorial and Peer Review Process and If rejected it will return to the author)

Editorial & Peer Review (3)
All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by an appointed Editor that corresponds to Journal of Widya Medika Junior criteria. All review processes are conducted in double-blind review. Author(s) must revise the manuscripts as suggested by reviewers and the editorial board. The revised manuscript will be reviewed by Editor and the editorial board will judge the final evaluation for publication. Editorial & Peer Review will be done by the editor and editorial board within 2 weeks after manuscript acceptance. The authors will have 7 days to reply and answer to the questions and inquiry by the reviewers and resend it to the system, where once again the reviewer will check the manuscript and give their final decisions If the manuscript is accepted by the peer reviewer within around 2 months, it will be published for next number publication.

Journal Widya Medika Junior provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles published Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. We are continuously working with our author communities to select the best choice of license options, currently being defined for this journal as follows: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Fair Play
An editor should evaluate manuscripts objectively without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Involvement and cooperation in investigations
An editor should take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper, in conjunction with the publisher (or society). Every reported act of unethical publishing behavior must be looked into, even if it is discovered years after publication.

Acknowledgment of sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed, as well as an objective discussion of its significance. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work, Review and case report articles should also be accurate and objective.

Data access and retention
Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication
An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Publication of some kinds of articles  (e.g.  clinical  guidelines,  translations)  in  more  than  one  journal  is  sometimes justifiable, provided certain conditions are met. The primary reference must be cited in the secondary publication.

Authorship of the paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors and who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be listed as contributors.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

Fundamental errors in published works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
